We’re so glad you are interested in joining our small but mighty band! Radix will be holding individual auditions for the 2026-2027 season this coming May-July, followed by a secondary call-back audition in August. The Nuts and Bolts

We rehearse at First Presbyterian Church of Portland (1200 SW Alder St.) on Tuesday evenings (6:30-8:30pm), September to mid-May - with breaks here and there as appropriate.

We prepare two full concert performances per season: one in December, one in May. We typically also sing several shorter outreach programs annually, and hold an overnight group retreat in April.

We also have parties on a regular basis!

Within these parameters, Radix aims to offer a significant degree of schedule flexibility to its members, recognizing the numerous professional and personal commitments that they must balance on a daily basis. 

Radix members are asked to contribute dues of $150 per concert cycle (2x per year) to help cover the cost of running our ensemble. Scholarships are available, however; no singer will be turned away for financial hardship.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have:

• Previous vocal training and experience

• Solid music reading skills

• A strong sense of pitch

• An interest in further developing healthy vocal technique across a spectrum of vocal styles

• Musicality and expressivity

• A love of ensemble singing, and the ability to work collaboratively with others

• The ability to sing one-to-a-part

• The ability to learn music independently

• An interest in singing a wide range of music, and in a wide range of languages and dialects, both modern and ancient

• Kindness, curiosity, patience, and a good sense of humor!
