Radix Vocal Ensemble

Singing with clarity, authenticity, gratitude, and above all, joy.

Radix [RAH-deeks]: Latin, meaning “root”

The Radix Vocal Ensemble seeks to inspire in ourselves and in our audiences a deep appreciation for the beautiful diversity of human experience expressed through song. We also aim to strengthen community - both our own, and the circles of community that emanate from it - through vocal performances that are compelling, meaningful, and joyous.

Celebrating Our Fifth Concert Season

It was five years ago that Radix embarked upon a big project: our first full-length concert. Do Not Fear the Darkness, presented in December 2022, established an ensemble notable for both its high-quality singing and its supportive, collaborative artistic process. The innovative programming (our first concert included poetry readings and a slideshow) has become a hallmark of a Radix concert, and then - as now - we were dedicated to building community through song. We honor this history in our 2026-2027 season, Songs of Us.

Radix 2026-2027: Songs of Us

Our fifth concert series celebrates two cornerstones of human connection: stories and songs. Our November 2026 winter concert - Folk Tales, Tall Tales, Myths, and Legends - features local storyteller Habiba Addo, who will share traditional stories from Africa and the African Diaspora accompanied in all sorts of creative ways by Radix. In May 2027, Radix presents Great Songwriters, a program dedicated to the artists whose powerful lyrics and compelling melodies tell stories of human experience both intensely personal and broadly universal. You’ll hear Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179) alongside Dolly Parton (1946-2026), and a whole lot more.
