Join Radix for an evening of profound beauty and lighthearted fun. (Yes, we can fit both into one concert!)

Our perception of our physical selves and our connection to the universe around us are interconnected in surprising ways. In this concert program, Radix explores the joyous appreciation of the physical world and our bodies’ experience in it. A simple, reverent Appalachian folk song, “Bright Morning Stars,” connects us to the souls of our dearly departed, shining up in heaven; while Shruti Rajasekar’s joyous “Heart of Earth” offers a playful, joyous celebration of the abundant generosity of nature. Swedish composer Karin Rhenqvist’s atmospheric set, Sånger ur jorden (“Songs from the Earth”), invites us to appreciate both darkness and light as we ponder a night sky full of stars. An evening spent skinny-dipping with friends is immortalized in “Rang Tang Ring Toon” (a cover of the song by the band Mountain Man), and Radix will jazz it up with Frank Foster’s classic tune about one fine pair of legs, “Shiny Stockings.” And there is much more: gorgeous sacred settings by James MacMillan and B. E. Boykin, Portland local Leela Grace’s stunning ode to new motherhood, “Queen of the Earth, Child of the Stars,” and some toe-tapping holiday favorites in four-part harmony.

We hope you’ll join us for a luminous winter evening of wonder, joy, and gratitude!
